This is the latest documentary in my series of interviews I call VOICES FROM ISRAEL. I interviewed Professor Alex Carmel who at the time was a professor at Carmel University, Haifa, Israel. Professor Alex shares about the last five hundred years of the history of the Middle East, when it was known as Palestine, and for the last 70 years, when the the state of Israel became a reality. He talks about the main players involved in the return of the Jews to Israel - people such as Theodore Hertz, William Hechler and the Church Mission to the Jews in the 19th century, as well as Lord Balfour in the 20th century. This particular documentary with Professor Alex Carmel is quite different to other guests interviewed for this series. The professor is like a walking, talking, reference library and a must-watch for those who want a more in-depth study programme at a higher academic level than I had from my previous guests.
